Road to Change, Saint Sabina: Schools Say Enough Sidewalk Challenge

August 12th, 2018 by jacqueline

JUN 19, 2018 — Armed with nothing more than boxes of chalk, Chicago got down on their hands and knees and demanded an end to gun violence. Kicking of the Road to Change national tour, Father Micheal Pfleger, Emma Gonzales, Chance the Rapper, Jennifer Hudson, Gabrielle Giffords, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and the Faith Community of St. Sabina took the Schools Say Enough Sidewalk Challenge, blanketing the sidewalks surrounding the church with the names of schools, victims, and survivors.

Our student-made orange fabric installation, representing the 7,000 kids gunned down since the Sandy Hook massacre, fluttered on the Saint Sabina fence, right behind the Gun Share public art exhibit. Chicago’s beloved HONK street band Environmental Encroachment greeted protesters with their irreverent brand of good vibes.
