Books are in stock now at bookstores nationally
If you live in Chicago, Unabridged Bookstore, the wonderful, independent bookstore located right across from the school, has the book in stock already! And get this: Unabridged will be giving 50% of the profits of every book sold at the September 26th launch event, and every book sold in their store, to the Nettelhorst Community Group. The authors will also be donating a portion of all book sales to the Nettelhorst Community Group as well.
Like the Nettelhorst reform movement itself, bringing this book to fruition has been a labor of love. We didn’t receive an advance, and we don’t have a publicity budget. Every ounce of effort, including the editing, the photography, the legal work, and even this website, has been the work of a Nettelhorst parent or a member of our rockin’ Lakeview East community. So please support Unabridged, our local, independent bookstore, and please, please, please help spread the word!
Help change the world, one school at a time!
The How to Walk to School not-for-profit has a very simple mission: Every kid, in every community, deserves to the opportunity to walk to a great neighborhood public school. Your tax-deductible contribution can help make this a reality. We are in the process of creating the How to Walk to School Network, a robust support system to help other schools make similar transformations.
If eight park moms could pull our little neighborhood school out of its twenty-five year nose-dive, surely other driven parents could do the same thing. Please email Jacqueline if you would like to be part of this exciting effort. If we could spark a national grassroots school reform movement that would pull us all out of the giant mess we’re in, now wouldn’t that be something?
Help keep Nettelhorst’s momentum going!
How to Walk to School is also case study in how a public school can be reborn and revitalized. And much of that success has come from the contributions of people like you, who have helped Nettelhorst overcome funding shortages that are the reality in public schools today.
Nettelhorst’s children need your active participation to take best advantage of the school’s momentum, as we continue to create an environment within which over 630 students — preschool through eighth grade — can realize their potential.
Your contribution will enrich the lives of hundreds of children, and your contribution will be managed and administered by dedicated parent/ professionals. Learn more about us by clicking here.
